Dr. Isolde Baylor-Aguirre graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She has been practicing at Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital since graduation. She started her career as an overnight emergency doctor at GVH and transitioned to all daytime hours in 1999.
Dr. Baylor's main focus, currently, is in the surgery suite, though the challeneges of emergencies, a busy day in appointments and caring for critical cases are all still exciting.
Dr. Baylor has been broadening her horizons recently. She attended the American College of Veterinary Surgeons annual meeting this past September for continuing education and an ultrasound training course in October to strenghten her diagnostic capabilites. Her most challenging task this winter has been the creation of the GVH Website.
Dr. Baylor is married and has two daughters, Teagan and Maddie. Her husband, Geoff Aguirre MD, PHD, is a physician and is finishing his residency in neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. With their dog, "Platelet" a 13 year old mixed-breed, they all moved recently to a "fixer-upper" in Havertown. The nearly 100 year old stone colonial has nearly 100 unfinished projects that they spend weekends and evenings planning.
In her down-time, Dr. Baylor enjoys riding with her horse, "Coffee At Midnight" a.k.a. "JAVA" . He is a 7 year old, 16.2 hand, thouroughbred-quarter horse cross, who lives at a private barn in Malvern. They occasionally make it to a horse show in Chester County and jump a few jumps. And just to keep things interesting, Dr. Baylor also enjoys knitting, baking, swimming and digital photography.
